Keysborough College has a plan to construct a swimming pool for students that shown below.
a)
Calculate the volume of the pool in cubic metres.
b) What is the capacity of the pool (in litres)?
c)
How much will it cost to fill the water in the pool if 1000 l costs $8?
Answers
Volume of the pool = 1×50×25
= 1250 m³
V= (½×1×50)×25
= 25×25
= 625 m³
Total volume of the pool= 1250+625
=
1875 m³
a) The volume of the pool is 1875 m³
1000 litres (L) = 1 cubic metre (m³)
so, 1875 m³ =
1875 000 L
b) The capacity of the pool is 1875 000 L
1875000÷1000×8
=1875×8
=
$15000
c) It will cost $15000 to fill the water in the swimming pool.
